How to evaluate an AI assistant built into your membership platform
Questions to ask about any AI feature
- What member data does it have access to?
- Can you disable it without losing other functionality?
- Does it ever act autonomously, or always with human approval?
- How is your member data handled by the underlying AI provider?
- Is AI involvement disclosed to members when relevant?
Red flags
- 'AI' is a label on a rules-based system with no actual model
- No data isolation between tenants
- AI can send emails or process payments without human approval
- No opt-out path for tenants or members
